His duties include coordinating recruiting, conducting individual skill sessions, arranging team travel, scheduling tape exchanges, and directing summer camps. He is also responsible for the scouting and evaluating of the team’s and opponent’s serving and serve receive tendencies. Williams excels at training and enhancing blocking skills and is the primary reason the team has been in the top of the conference in blocking statistics.

Prior to Western Illinois, Williams coached for seven seasons at Sports Performance Volleyball Club (SPVB), one of the country’s premier volleyball clubs. During his tenure at SPVB, he was the head coach of many teams at various age levels. His most successful team was his 2002 18-Blue team that finished fifth at the USA Junior Olympic National Championships and earned the bronze medal at the A.A.U. National Championships. While at SPVB, his coaching duties included working with several Division I collegiate teams and skills camps as well as numerous elite high school skills camps. Williams also gained international coaching experience while at SPVB when working with several coaches from Japan and China. He worked with the now defunct United State Professional Volleyball (USPV) league as a member of the coaching staff that evaluated and selected players to join the league.

Williams also served as the assistant coach at Class A perennial power Wheaton St. Francis from 1999-2001. The 2000 team finished second in the IHSA state tournament. Meyer

Rich Meyer
Head Volleyball Coach
Culver Stockton College
Canton, Missouri
A familiar face among high school volleyball fans hopes to continue the proud tradition the Culver-Stockton College volleyball program has formed over the last 25 years.

Rich Meyer, the long-time head coach at Camp Point (Ill.) Central High School, has been named the Lady Wildcats’ head coach. Meyer is excited to have a chance to guide the Lady Wildcats’ program.

Meyer compiled a 607-277 overall record in 26 years as head coach at Central and Barry (Ill.) High Schools. At Central, he captured 11 West Central Conference championships, eight regional titles and advanced to the state tournament in 1987 and 1992. He was named Quincy Herald-Whig Coach of the Year in 1992 and 2002.

That success, along with knowledge of the area, played a major factor in his hiring.

“Rich has been successful as a volleyball coach for a very long time,” Culver-Stockton athletic director Rod Walton said. “That success, along with the knowledge of the area volleyball landscape and the interaction with high school coaches, made him a viable and the right candidate for the job.”

In addition to his high school success, Meyer also guided six junior high teams to the state tournament, winning the 2003 and 2004 Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) 8AA state championships. He also coached softball for 25 years and recorded a 346-261 overall record, won eight conference titles and one regional championship.
